My heart and prayers go out to her new husband and her family and all the other soldiers fighting for freedom.
My journey through life, as I attempt a healthy lifestyle. Both physically and mentally. I live in the Pacific Northwest, but I'm from the great state of Alaska. I'm a software engineer, and I'm nearing my retirement years. It's a beautiful day to be alive!

Remembering Army Private First Class Erin McLyman - A real war hero
Driving home tonight I noticed the large flag next to the ball field was flying at half mast. The wind was blowing hard and the flag was at 90 degrees from the flag pole, as though it was saluting those passing by. Every time I see a flag at half mast my heart sinks because in Washington state that usually means another fallen soldier.
This young lady, U.S. Army Private First Class Erin McLyman, died in Iraq last week from a mortar attack supporting Iraqi Operation Freedom. A real war. Her story is amazing because she completely turned her life around as a teenager, but her life has had a sad ending.
My heart and prayers go out to her new husband and her family and all the other soldiers fighting for freedom.

It always makes me sad when I read about another death of any of our soldiers, even if I don't know the person. Thanks for sharing this. This young soldier and her family are in my prayers.
Sad beyond words.
We should celebrate her and her great spirit.
It's a travesty that we have two wars going on and none of the news channels care to cover it. Our military deserves our attention. IMO. Even if it isn't pretty or popular, we have a duty to be paying attention. We owe them.
Thanks for sharing Erin's story.
Its sad to have someone die so young. Our news media is to busy covering the Health bill to worry about anything else. Thank you for sharing....
soooo sad
So sad. Thanks for posting that. So many soldier die without being honored and nobody knows their face or name. I will pray for her family.
Sad, yes, but I am so very thankful for all those who are willing to die to insure our freedoms. I salute you PFC McLyman, and all those who have given so much.
